Jackson and Boudinot: Two Views of the Cherokees
This paper discusses specific questions raised by Andrew Jackson's Address to Congress about the removal of all Indians east of the Mississippi and the observations about his tribe of a thoroughly acculturated Cherokee. Jackson evidently had very strong political reasons for his position in addition to a long-abiding enmity towards Native Americans.
